About the company

They build web applications for a very small number of select partners. They also manage the apps throughout their lifecycles, from architecture to sales to customer service. Some examples of apps they run are https://atlas.md, https://jumpchart.com, https://a.school, and https://bidwell.auction.

They work with a culturally and geographically diverse team currently comprised of 17 people (9 developers) spread throughout 10 different countries on 4 continents. They’re incorporated in Wichita, Kansas (USA) but they’ve gone remote-only 15 years ago. Remote isn’t anything new for them.

They also have an honest focus on the quality of life for everyone at the company and are seriously averse to overtime. They focus on sustainability and we want everyone to grow together and in a healthy way here.

Purpose and responsibilities

You would be working mainly on our biggest web application, but also on secondary, smaller web apps as the pipeline allows. The majority of the work would be done on Laravel with some custom framework involved around the edges. We have dozens of 3rd party integrations in our code and some refactoring work is involved with these 3rd parties as well as general code base evolutions.

We rely on AWS for many of our features, so you would be working with their APIs constantly. The workload is usually balanced between new features/tweaks and maintenance work. You would start small to get a better understanding of how everything works together and build your way up to the bigger issues.

You would be working with an all-remote team that’s used to getting work done asynchronously through text-based channels (defined backlogs, wikis, and Slack conversations).

For reference, some keywords for technologies we use: Laravel, AWS (many products), GraphQL, Twilio, Stripe, Redis, Google APIs, Dropbox APIs, GraphQL, OpenSearch/Elastic.
